I believe if all you want is for it to run -

VIN + CS + Pin code need to match in cluster and ecm

If you pull the dump from both the cluster - Should be an RB4 I think - and the ecu we can look at the files and go from there4

If it is an rb4 , nothing likes talking to them. You can find an old post I made awhile back about one.

Read CS from ecu with autel, prep dealer key. Then go to rb4 with vvdi2 and write key direct to eeprom

Customer has a Frankenstien Audi. He has put a used ECU from same year and model A4. I pulled the security data and the vin is different. My IM608 wont pull the IMMO data. It will pull it from the ECU but it is for the other car it came from. To marry all his crap together is threre a way? The car when he got it came with no ECU. He put the ECU, and cluster from the junk yard car and the ring from donor car. Where do you start with this mess?

    An addition to this;

Did another 2008 F450 today. NON pats vehicle, junk yard replacement cluster, out of another f-450.

Donor vehicle WAS pats equipped according to scan tool

Ford FJDS failed.... said success on writing coding, parameter reset etc. Tried mileage adjustment, cluster still had PATS in it and was throwing a code for no transceiver detected.

How I turned a PATS cluster into non pats - APP - Dash options

Back up of the original cluster *I believe this is the full EEPROM not just the as built data the ford tool is using*
Installed new cluster and used restore with the original file. Takes about 5 minutes to write everything. Dash mileage corrects to be perfect, including the trip meters. Vehicle started right up.
Autel even reads the serial number, version and model etc of the dash the same as the original. Which were different when I started.

FYI on these, 2 experiences both identical with Fleet trucks.
    Both vehicles F350, NON transponder.

Customer ordered a re manufactured dash from Local ford dealer.
Dash shows up, they install will not start. Blinking theft light. Mileage, VIN etc are all already set and on a sticker on the side of the refurb clusters

What does NOT work to get these running
Programmable module installation - Copies data from old to new (I think?) acts exactly the same
    Parameter reset - nope
Attempting to program transponder keys and just making it a transp car - nope

    What does work -
Take out the APP, mileage adjustment, and just set the mileage right back to what it already had. Fired right up with the non transponder keys.

Not sure if the parameter reset was required or not - did them anyways prior on the second one.

Hopefully that saves someone some time.... the dash's ford is sending must all have the PATS enabled and for what ever reason setting the mileage while plugged into the vehicle seems to be turning it off.

    Yes to both.

I am 99% sure it is working fine, but don't have another chevy to plug into to verify - it connects to my pass thru etc. I suspect it is failing out because of ZERO comms not because it simply is reading an invalid vin.

I could not get comms with any other tool (it worked once, when I first checked) After digging it has voltage loss and or shorts in almost every circuit of the vehicle. Same issue with both new and old ECM.

We are sending this one down the road and I will learn on a different car... Have 1 VIN worth of reprogramming sitting in the bank.

There are 2 square 28f512 devices labeled FLASH that I think MAY contain the info.... Option 2 is I order an OBD1 Flash tool for these. But most look like I need to be able to pull the info off the original via the diagnostic port..Which cannnot happen as it has 0 comms

Singh reacted to Keyhole - Eugene in 1995 Corvette ECM - programming??
It is, but this is the ECM not the BCM/CCM. From my understanding this gets signal from the VATS and controls ignition/fuel etc.... The VATS part is working great on this one actually. Car starts and stalls in 1-2 seconds with canbus codes

Singh reacted to rapidlock in 2014 Ford mustang with engine/transmission swap Need to fix VIN/milage can IDS do this?
Forscan has a function to change the VIN without reprogramming the PCM. I haven't personally tried it, but Forscan is super cheap, and if you have a J-box you don't need anything else (or there's a cheap bluetooth device you can use to interface with the obd). I don't know if that will do it for you, but it might be worth a look at.

2010 ford mustang v6 4.0 liter  upgraded with a 2014 5.0 liter automatic. Car runs fine throws no trouble codes, car won't pass emissions due to VIN being from the donor car. I've talked to a few techs who tell me they can re-write the vin but, it will update the PCM to run data for the V6. Can IDS just rewrite the VIN or the mileage? the car is is in perfect condition. I don't mind sending the PCM out for service or subcontracting but the car needs to pass emissions with the correct VIN or my customer is screwed. please help.

That, I don't know. But there are actually 2 of those processors. The one you see above and this one here. I believe they contain the same data. It's difficult to desolder and resolder that one without also desoldering the flat cables that hold the 4 different circuit boards together.

If bladed ignition, keys are self learning.
If EIS plastic key and ignition, W210, the processor is a Motorola 64 leg HC05.

I had a '95 Sebring with the same issue. My aftermarket alarm guy told me it was supposed to be 5 volts on a certain wire to kill the factory alarm. He told me to use a certain resistor chip to reduce the voltage with a jumper cable on negative. It blew a fuse I replaced it,but it worked. If you take a good power probe to a fuse box you will notice not everything is 12 volts positive or negative, some circuits are in between. Chrysler product alarm circuits for example.

When good technicians install aftermarket alarms they are supposed to be integrated into the factory alarm system to make sure they're both shut down.

A couple times I programmed a Ford remote and it shut down the aftermarket alarm because they're hooked up to each other.

I have a client that lives in a bad part of town that owns a 2003 acura MDX. She has a factory remote, criminals kept using a jiggle key on the door lock and because the electric switch was hooked up to it it would shut down her alarm.  Several times she had her ignition turned on but didn't steal it.
I referred her to my aftermarket specialist who made sure to install a diode on the integration circuit. The aftermarket alarm still needs to shut down the factory alarm, but turning a jiggle key in the door lock and shutting down the factory alarm will not shut down the aftermarket one.

I am not that knowledgeable about the VATS relearn though I did it once just to prove I could do it, but I believe this only applies to later years.  I think late 90's up.  It would be interesting if there was some sort of reference as to what years and models this could be done on, but doubt you will ever see it.

This particular car was a later model car that does not utilize a VATS module, but stores the information in the BCM. The BCM was bad in the car. As soon as you turned the key on, the security light as well as other dash light would start blinking, as well as one of the needles on either the tach or speedometer. (I don't remember which) Also, I could hear a clicking under the dash that was in rhythm with the cluster blinking. I traced it to the BCM, and a relay on the board. Incidentally, this cycling relay coincided with a no run/no start condition.
I ended up advising the customer to get a new BCM from Oh'Really. When the new BCM was plugged, everything seemed normal except the security light flashing. I could not get the Tech2 to program the BCM. I did use the Tech2 to do a theft system relearn, and as soon as it went through the 10 minute wait, the security light went out, I cycled the ignition, and she fired up. The BCM still would not program with tech2. It kept giving a no communication message.
Put the 608 on it and noted that the unit was actually a refurb. It still contained the VIN from the donor vehicle. Surprisingly, the 608 allowed me to edit the VIN in the BCM. Then it showed success programming the BCM.
When I finished the interior lights and the automatic windows did not work. I had the following 2 codes. I referred the customer to an auto electrician, and advised them that it is possible that one of the 2 diagnostic codes could have been responsible for frying the original module.
