Slik got a reaction from Singh in 2004 Buick Regal BCM VATS?
If you're talking about a new vats module, it's whatever value you have in the ignition
Apparently, if it's used as well.

Slik reacted to Keyhole - Eugene in 2011 Dodge Durango ECM circuit help
I could not find the processor online for purchase anywhere; outside of china - 6 months out - or in 1000+ qty
I did remove it and reseat it with no effect and reflowed everything near it with hot air. I would be leary of tossing it in the oven without removing the connectors which are plastic. To do so you would have to unsolder several hundred pins that are through and through the board.
The ECM got HOT, it burned up his alternator and the main wire I guess prior to me seeing it. So my guess would be that driver is completely hosed
Currently I have ordered an ECM charging by-pass. I'll post photos and let you know how that goes.

Try these guys. https://moduleexperts.com/ecm-repair/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA5OuNBhCRARIsACgaiqWAdMgVzEG8l0IXqLSfaexZ6Udm2B0Sq_3xM0O12d1LOTYA7py98QUaArwuEALw_wcB.
It's one thing to test a circuit board with discreet components but with discreet components mixed with integrated circuits and microprocessors, without a schematic, is insane.
Do you have a transistor tester? Do you know which may be a MOSFET that you could destroy with an ohmmeter?
You may be able to get professional rebuilders to help
Or you could try and call Chad out in WA at SOS and see what his recommendation would be

After you do the VTD learn it will. Hell, I've done that on AKL if value isn't printed on ignition rather than interrogate.
Best Regards, S. Kameron CRL.

Did you push the 'total system reset' button in the glove box?

I looked for it but all I found was the "marry everything back together after swapping components" button but it was keylocked like a lexus trunk button and I didn't have the emergency key.

I'd venture a guess that most any 2005 Caravan still on the road is a failed wheel bearing or missed oil change away from being junkyard fodder.
I understand wanting to defend the moral high ground but it's ok to be realistic. Write down the pin you choose on the vehicle in a conspicuous place (door jamb by the data plate is my fave because it's where I normally look to get the vin back in the days I could just call in a PIN). Notify the customer and explain the potential issues. Do the thing, get the money, get on with your day.
All of us keyboard badasses on here would do the job better, faster, and charge more. I myself have raised the issue and challenged the status quo when the ability to change the PIN first arrived in our collective toolbox and a few people had the audacity to mention they'd set some PIN's to 0000 because eff the customer, they're always gonna have to use a locksmith now!
I'm older and less interested in causing a ruckus over the way other people choose to fix things. I still replace stripped screws when I find them and pick up trash off the sidewalk (provided there's a receptacle to drop it into), but I'm not above farting in an elevator either. On a moral alignment chart, I'm probably somewhere between chaotic good and chaotic neutral.

The original question was asked and answered as was the followup questions.
It is our job to get the customer back on the road as quickly as possible. Nothing illegal or unethical was suggested (IMHO). The customer had a problem, the problem was solved...they're driving again. Job well done and no one was "screwed".
One would hope that, after losing a key and going through the expense of getting a new key, they would be sure to keep at least 2 keys from that moment on.

My post was not directed at you Ben. You would most likely be the recipient of such calls. It was more directed at the folks who bitch about the cost of something because they've seen the Chinese knockoff price on eBay but want the safety of buying it stateside.
Personally, I can't stand the tech calls about why something is not programming and find out they are using a $300 offshore programmer.

I got mine from AE tools. They are the aftermarket supplier. I wouldn't try to circumvent anyone from making their money. Let everyone make their money that they are entitled to make. The same policy should apply to everyone in business. Is that a crime

So update to storytime. . .
FCA apparently called the service dept. and read them the riot act about selling me the micropod, so it went back.
Witech support was nice to me but seemed they took their rage out on mom & dad. Threatened to bill the dealer for the difference in price between the tech's micropod and the retail price (about $1300). Service manager played dumb and said something to the effect of "well I don't see anywhere that says we can't sell one" and that was more or less the end of it.
I did give it back so they could send it back and keep the peace.
Anyway, yeah, you REALLY can't buy one through a dealership because FCA are a bunch of douchenozzles.
