Even on the bench? I've had a lot of them that are dead to the world, but will still read via pin out on the desk

I believe if all you want is for it to run -

VIN + CS + Pin code need to match in cluster and ecm

If you pull the dump from both the cluster - Should be an RB4 I think - and the ecu we can look at the files and go from there4

If it is an rb4 , nothing likes talking to them. You can find an old post I made awhile back about one.

Read CS from ecu with autel, prep dealer key. Then go to rb4 with vvdi2 and write key direct to eeprom

    An addition to this;

Did another 2008 F450 today. NON pats vehicle, junk yard replacement cluster, out of another f-450.

Donor vehicle WAS pats equipped according to scan tool

Ford FJDS failed.... said success on writing coding, parameter reset etc. Tried mileage adjustment, cluster still had PATS in it and was throwing a code for no transceiver detected.

How I turned a PATS cluster into non pats - APP - Dash options

Back up of the original cluster *I believe this is the full EEPROM not just the as built data the ford tool is using*
Installed new cluster and used restore with the original file. Takes about 5 minutes to write everything. Dash mileage corrects to be perfect, including the trip meters. Vehicle started right up.
Autel even reads the serial number, version and model etc of the dash the same as the original. Which were different when I started.

FYI on these, 2 experiences both identical with Fleet trucks.
    Both vehicles F350, NON transponder.

Customer ordered a re manufactured dash from Local ford dealer.
Dash shows up, they install will not start. Blinking theft light. Mileage, VIN etc are all already set and on a sticker on the side of the refurb clusters

What does NOT work to get these running
Programmable module installation - Copies data from old to new (I think?) acts exactly the same
    Parameter reset - nope
Attempting to program transponder keys and just making it a transp car - nope

    What does work -
Take out the APP, mileage adjustment, and just set the mileage right back to what it already had. Fired right up with the non transponder keys.

Not sure if the parameter reset was required or not - did them anyways prior on the second one.

Hopefully that saves someone some time.... the dash's ford is sending must all have the PATS enabled and for what ever reason setting the mileage while plugged into the vehicle seems to be turning it off.

    Yes to both.

I am 99% sure it is working fine, but don't have another chevy to plug into to verify - it connects to my pass thru etc. I suspect it is failing out because of ZERO comms not because it simply is reading an invalid vin.

I could not get comms with any other tool (it worked once, when I first checked) After digging it has voltage loss and or shorts in almost every circuit of the vehicle. Same issue with both new and old ECM.

We are sending this one down the road and I will learn on a different car... Have 1 VIN worth of reprogramming sitting in the bank.

    Based off of this
    http://support.moates.net/94-95-lt1-corvette-camaro-firebird-16188051/

There are 2 square 28f512 devices labeled FLASH that I think MAY contain the info.... Option 2 is I order an OBD1 Flash tool for these. But most look like I need to be able to pull the info off the original via the diagnostic port..Which cannnot happen as it has 0 comms
  7. Thanks
Keyhole - Eugene got a reaction from Singh in 1995 Corvette ECM - programming??
It is, but this is the ECM not the BCM/CCM. From my understanding this gets signal from the VATS and controls ignition/fuel etc.... The VATS part is working great on this one actually. Car starts and stalls in 1-2 seconds with canbus codes

    AK90 can change the vin

change the ISN manually or I've heard EWS editor will do it automatically

If I am not mistaken , have never had to do it with it missing
Read the Password/ISN from the DME
Write the Password and Vin into the EWS - make a key to the EWS as normal

Plug in and you're good to go

Supposedly was the alternator, which was already replaced. With the by pass in it is now charging at 14.3 volts... which is manually adjustable. Like I said, I will post pictures once I get it all working properly.

I'd love it incase this does not pan out. Just let me know how much $ + shipping.
Have an email into the guy - the by pass has the car charging, but his trick to tricking the charge light off is not working.

Essentially it is a resistor with a heat sync wired in between the alternator plug coming from the ECM. That portion of the ECM is working, as if you plug it in to the alternator the light was not on (Even tho it did not charge)

I could not find the processor online for purchase anywhere; outside of china - 6 months out - or in 1000+ qty

I did remove it and reseat it with no effect and reflowed everything near it with hot air. I would be leary of tossing it in the oven without removing the connectors which are plastic. To do so you would have to unsolder several hundred pins that are through and through the board.

The ECM got HOT, it burned up his alternator and the main wire I guess prior to me seeing it. So my guess would be that driver is completely hosed

Currently I have ordered an ECM charging by-pass. I'll post photos and let you know how that goes.

It's one thing to test a circuit board with discreet components but with discreet components mixed with integrated circuits and microprocessors, without a schematic, is insane.
Do you have a transistor tester? Do you know which may be a MOSFET that you could destroy with an ohmmeter?
You may be able to get professional rebuilders to help
Or you could try and call Chad out in WA at SOS and see what his recommendation would be

Keyhole - Eugene got a reaction from Singh in 2007 Audi A4 Cluster Swap ?
Have not had to - but I believe that is an RB8 cluster on that year. I think the VVDI2 is capable of reading the data and writing to used - assuming the old one is intact enough to do so.

Why are they replacing it? If it says DEF on the screen, I have had the vvdi2 resurrect several thru OBD in ~ 30 seconds.

I will update, I have flashed 3 GM ecu's since this ; my stuff was setup properly it was just a car issue.

So if anyone needs help with the current version of TIS2WEB let me know and I can likely help.
