Vehicle year is always determined by the 10th character of the VIN, not the build date.

    You sir are correct!

    VIN says it’s an 04

Biuld date and current registration says 03!

Check and recheck and check again is the lesson here.

Thank you all for pointing out what should’ve been obvious to me. It appears I was trying to make this more difficult than it needed to be. That’s not a first!

    Have a great weekend everybody!

Is it possible its an 04 and can be done by OBD?

Try programming it as type 2 with a D chip key and see what happens.

I had though about that as well. Build date is 04/03.

Anything is possible though. When I get back to the vehicle I will try that out. When I get back to the vehicle I will try that out.

    Thank you

  3. I pulled this ECU from the van. AKL situation.

Year is 2003. Ilco book shows transponder equipped 2003 Siennas. This has active immo light and no start with a metal key.

i did not see and ic900 chip like other Toyota/Lexus ECU’s in any location, hence the question of where/what is the target device. This ECU does not match any (visually) others that I’ve encountered.
